Mortgage Adviser / Mortgage Broker - #2172839

Kite Mortgages

Date: 2 hours ago
City: London
Contract type: Full time
Kite Mortgages

Kite Mortgages is a specialist mortgage broker for City professionals, and the firm is growing. We are adding a third adviser to work alongside our director, David Walsh, and our broker manager, Simon Hart. You would advise your own clients from first conversation to completion, including their protection, and build a book that grows year on year.

We are looking for someone with two to four years' advising experience at a broker or lender, CeMAP or CertMA and competent adviser status, who can handle complex income and would rather look after a smaller number of clients well than get through a diary someone else has filled.

Pay

  • Base salary of £25,000, rising to £30,000 once your revenue reaches £200,000 a year, and staying there
  • A flat 25% of all net revenue you write, from day one: procuration fees, client fees and protection. No tiers, no thresholds, no year-end cliff, and the same rate for every adviser at the firm
  • Worked example: an adviser writing £150,000 of net revenue in their first full year, including the clients handed to them, would earn £62,500. At £200,000 in year two, £80,000. At £250,000, £92,500
  • 28 days' holiday including bank holidays, and a workplace pension
  • Starting from February or March 2027, allowing for notice and Openwork authorisation

About Kite Mortgages

We work with lawyers, investment bankers, private equity and hedge fund professionals, traders and senior tech leaders, structuring mortgages around complex income such as bonuses, RSUs, carried interest, partnership drawings and foreign currency. We are a small, friendly team with a strong reputation in that market, over 150 five-star reviews, and no complaints or failed file checks in six years. The firm runs on Smartr365 and Concert Hub, and is an appointed representative of The Openwork Partnership.

Where your business comes from

  • Clients handed to you: our director is handing clients over to free his time for business development, including remortgages and product transfers for existing Kite Mortgages clients. In your first full year we expect that to be around £50,000 of revenue in warm, existing clients, with a name attached and an introduction made
  • Firm enquiries: Kite Mortgages generates its own enquiries through its content and introducer relationships, mostly City professionals earning £150,000 to £500,000, allocated across the advice team under written rules
  • Your own: referrals from clients you have looked after well, and, if you want it, a public presence in a lane that suits you. We do not expect you to go out and find the business; that is the firm's job

How we work

  • You report to Simon Hart, our broker manager, who leads the advice team day to day. David remains principal and is in the office with you
  • You run the advice and the relationship: first meeting, recommendation, protection, application to offer, completion and aftercare
  • Natalie, our client services coordinator, does the heavy lifting around your cases: first contact with new enquiries, collating documents, keying and progressing applications, tracking remortgage dates and chasing lenders. Your time goes on advising
  • We run to a written handbook so that every client gets the same quality of service whoever they see. It is a living document that everyone contributes to, and you will be expected to follow it
  • Office-based in Canonbury (Leroy House, 436 Essex Road, N1 3QP), five days a week to begin with, then a working-from-home day by arrangement. Hours around 9.00 to 5.30
  • A short morning case forum between advisers, and one standard a week reviewed together
  • Funded development: Openwork Business School programmes, and CII qualifications if you want to go further

Who we are looking for

  • Qualified and current: CeMAP or CII CertMA, competent adviser status, and two to four years' advising at a broker or lender. Essential
  • At ease with complex income: bonuses, RSUs, partnership drawings, foreign currency. You do not need to have done all of it, but you need to be interested in it
  • Someone who builds on what they are given: the clients we hand you and the enquiries the firm generates are the start; the referrals and repeat business they lead to are yours
  • Protection as part of the advice: you raise it in the first conversation and see it through. If you have not done much of it, we will train you, in house and through the Openwork Business School
  • Good in a small firm: you can take direction, hold a standard, and say so when you think something could be done better

How to apply

Send your CV with a few lines on a client you are proud of: what they needed, what you did, and what it meant for them. We are as interested in how you think as in your numbers. We are reviewing applications as they arrive and interviewing from November. We are recruiting for this role directly and are not working with agencies.
