Sales Support Engineer - Remote

Bring technology to life. Solve problems. Help customers succeed.

Do you enjoy getting under the skin of technology and helping others understand what it can do for them?

Perhaps you’re already working in technical support, pre-sales or sales engineering and are ready for broader responsibility. Or you have a strong computing background and want a role that combines technical problem-solving with customer interaction.

My client is growing its UK and European team and is looking for a Sales Support Engineer to become a trusted technical voice for prospects and customers.

Technology with a clear purpose

My client develops data erasure software and SaaS solutions that help organisations securely and verifiably erase data from IT assets.

Working with IT asset disposition (ITAD) providers and enterprise customers, the business helps protect sensitive information while supporting the reuse of technology and the circular IT economy.

This is an opportunity to join a growing business where your technical knowledge, customer relationships and ideas can make a visible difference. A varied role across pre-sales and customer support

You’ll work closely with sales, engineering and product colleagues, helping customers from their first demonstration through to onboarding and ongoing support.

One day, you could be demonstrating the software to a prospective customer. The next, you might be guiding a trial, troubleshooting an issue or sharing customer feedback that helps shape future product development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding customer needs: Explore technical environments, workflows, compliance requirements and what customers want to achieve.
  • Delivering engaging demonstrations: Show technical and business audiences how the software can address their challenges.
  • Supporting the sales process: Contribute to technical specifications, quotations, proposals, tender responses and security questionnaires.
  • Guiding trials and onboarding: Help customers evaluate the solution through proofs of concept and get started successfully.
  • Providing first-line technical support: Investigate routine issues, maintain clear support tickets and coordinate escalations, keeping customers informed.
  • Building lasting relationships: Run regular technical account reviews, tracking usage, issues, actions and opportunities.
  • Influencing improvements: Share customer insight with engineering and product teams and contribute useful guidance to the knowledge base.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be technically curious, confident speaking with customers and motivated by finding practical solutions.

We’re looking for:

  • A strong educational or practical background in computing, software engineering or a related technical area.
  • A solid understanding of operating systems, hardware, storage and networking fundamentals.
  • The ability to explain technical detail clearly and connect it to business benefits.
  • Confidence presenting and demonstrating technology to different audiences.
  • A customer-focused approach, with patience, empathy and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail when preparing documentation and recording customer interactions.
  • Strong written and spoken English.

Experience in pre-sales, technical support, sales engineering or customer success would be useful, but is not essential if you can demonstrate the technical foundations and aptitude to succeed.

Knowledge of data erasure, ITAD, IT asset lifecycle management or data security and compliance would also be welcome, alongside familiarity with Jira Service Management, helpdesk tools or CRM systems. Additional European languages would be an advantage.

Why consider this opportunity?

  • Broaden your experience across technical sales, support and account management.
  • Work with customers across the UK and Europe, with occasional travel for meetings, events and training.
  • Have a voice in product development, turning customer feedback into practical improvements.
  • Join a growing team where you can take ownership and build strong relationships across the business.
  • Work with technology that supports data security and IT reuse.

Interested?

If you enjoy technology, building customer relationships and solving problems, I’d love to hear from you.
