Role Overview

We are seeking a Product Manager to lead the strategy, development, adoption, and scaling of products and capabilities across the Data & AI portfolio.

  • Data products and platforms
  • AI and machine learning products
  • Reusable data, analytics, and AI capabilities

These products and capabilities enable data-driven decision-making, automation, advanced analytics, and responsible AI across bp’s Supply, Trading & Shipping organisation.

The Product Manager will define product strategy, prioritise outcomes, and work closely with delivery leads, engineers, data scientists, product teams, and business partners to deliver valuable, scalable, and high-performing Data & AI products. The role requires a blend of commercial knowledge, design thinking, and technical understanding, with an ability to navigate emerging technologies, complex data ecosystems, and diverse business needs.

What You Will Deliver

Product Thinking

  • Define product strategy across the Data & AI portfolio, linking outcomes to ST&S organisational goals.
  • Develop strong insight into user difficulties, workflows, and journeys across relevant business teams.
  • Translate business needs into strategic product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with portfolio and business priorities.
  • Understand and articulate commercial value and measurable business outcomes.
  • Balance conflicting priorities across customer needs, enterprise strategy, and technical feasibility.
  • Evaluate product performance, adoption, and value realisation using data-driven insights and metrics.
  • Integrate user feedback loops, ensuring product decisions reflect real customer needs and workflows.
  • Partner with delivery teams to ensure product experiences are intuitive, joined-up, and reusable where appropriate.

Technology Delivery

  • Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to shape scalable, secure, and reusable solutions across data platforms, analytics, AI models, and user-facing products.
  • Use iterative experiments, prototypes, and pilot deployments to validate hypotheses and value before scaling.
  • Find opportunities to reuse portfolio capabilities, reduce duplication, and accelerate delivery of Data & AI outcomes.

Be Agile

  • Shape ways of working across cross-functional teams, improving delivery flow, communication, and shared accountability.
  • Work with and influence a broad partner landscape, including senior executives, technology leaders, and use case Technology delivery teams.
  • Navigate complex organisational constraints to remove impediments and accelerate time-to-value.

Product Scope You Will Own

  • Data & Analytics Products. Own product direction for data and analytics solutions that improve access to trusted information, insight, and decision support.
  • AI Products and Use Cases. Shape and scale AI-enabled products that address priority business problems, with clear user adoption, responsible AI, and value outcomes.
  • Shared Data & AI Capabilities. Develop reusable platform and component capabilities that accelerate delivery across multiple products and teams.

What You Will Need To Be Successful

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in product management, ideally within data, AI/ML, analytics, digital products, or complex technical platforms.
  • Proven partner management experience, including engagement with senior business leaders.
  • Solid understanding of Agile delivery and experience managing backlogs, roadmaps, dependencies, and iterative releases.
  • Familiarity with modern data, analytics, and AI concepts, including responsible AI and data governance.
  • Ability to work closely with engineering, architecture, data science, and design teams on product and technology decisions.
  • Strong analytical capability, comfortable using dashboards, product metrics, and business evidence to guide decisions.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering or scaling data, analytics, AI, or machine learning products in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Understanding of data governance, AI ethics, security, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong domain knowledge in commodity trading.

Key Competencies

  • User-focused and outcome-driven.
  • Clear communicator who can translate between business and technical audiences
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, emerging-technology environments within a large organisation.
  • Strategic and analytical perspective.
  • Strong influencer with the ability to align diverse partners
