Interim Head of Finance - #2176535

Are you a qualified accountant with experience leading a Charity finance function? Are you confident overseeing day-to-day financial operations while preparing for and supporting a year-end close? Are you available at short notice for a short-term interim assignment?

Robertson Bell is recruiting an Interim Head of Finance for an established charitable organisation seeking experienced leadership during a period of transition. This is a hands-on assignment providing continuity between senior finance appointments. The successful candidate will take responsibility for maintaining effective financial operations, supporting the organisation through its year-end and providing reassurance to senior stakeholders throughout the transition.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing oversight of the finance function, ensuring essential activities continue to operate effectively.
• Maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting, including the delivery of month-end processes.
• Overseeing key transactional activities, including accounts payable and payroll.
• Coordinating financial year-end preparations, ensuring appropriate records, reconciliations and supporting information are maintained.
• Providing financial information and updates to senior stakeholders, including the Finance Committee.
• Identifying and addressing operational issues that could affect financial reporting or business continuity.
• Supporting an effective handover to the incoming Head of Finance.

This is an opportunity for an experienced interim professional to make an immediate contribution, ensuring the finance function remains stable and well-supported ahead of a permanent leadership appointment. The role is based a minimum of twice per week in an attractive central London office.

To be considered, please meet these criteria:

• Be a fully qualified accountant with experience in a senior finance position.
• Demonstrate strong financial accounting and operational finance experience.
• Have experience supporting financial year-end processes.
• Be comfortable taking ownership of a finance function with minimal supervision.
• Possess excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and committees.
• Be available to start at short notice and commit to a short-term assignment.
