The Opportunity

Cedar Recruitment is working with a leading UK pensions organisation to recruit an experienced Regulatory Pensions Lead.

With the pensions industry undergoing significant regulatory and legislative change, this is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in interpreting complex requirements, influencing business decisions and ensuring regulatory compliance across a large and established pensions environment.

You will also play an important role in managing relationships with The Pensions Regulator (TPR) and HMRC, helping the organisation navigate regulatory change while maintaining the highest standards of governance and compliance.

This position offers considerable autonomy, exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to make a genuine impact within a highly respected organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on pensions legislation, regulatory requirements and HMRC pensions tax rules.
  • Monitor, interpret and assess changes in pensions legislation, regulation and industry guidance, identifying implications for the organisation.
  • Translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical recommendations for operational teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with The Pensions Regulator, HMRC and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Support the implementation of regulatory and legislative changes, working collaboratively with Operations, Risk, Compliance and Change teams.
  • Assess regulatory risks associated with operational processes, products and business decisions, recommending appropriate controls and mitigation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support in resolving complex regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Prepare regulatory briefings, reports and analysis for senior management, executive committees and governance forums.
  • Support regulatory assurance activities and contribute to the development of robust internal controls.
  • Identify training requirements arising from regulatory developments and support the delivery of relevant guidance and training.

Essential experience

  • Significant experience within the pensions industry, ideally gained within a pension provider, master trust, pensions consultancy, third-party administrator or another regulated pensions environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of pensions legislation, regulation and industry guidance.
  • Strong understanding of pensions tax legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • Experience interpreting regulatory and legislative developments and translating them into practical business actions.
  • A strong understanding of regulatory risk, compliance and governance within pensions.
  • Experience working with, or managing relationships involving, regulatory authorities such as TPR and HMRC.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and build trusted relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with the confidence to work independently and take ownership of regulatory matters.
