HR Manager (12-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

Location: London

Hours: Full time

Contract: Fixed-term, 12 months

ROLE SUMMARY

A top international law firm is seeking an HR Manager to join its Human Resources department on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Serving a global client base in Private Capital, Private Wealth, M&A and Disputes, the firm is big enough to handle the most complex mandates yet small enough for everyone to know each other well. As HR Manager, you will join the Advisory team within a 45-strong HR function, partnering with line managers across business services on a broad range of people matters.

THE TEAM

The HR department is made up of seven teams: Advisory, Resource Management, Operations, Recruitment, Early Careers, Learning & Performance, and Inclusion and CSR. The Advisory team includes a Chief People Officer, Head of HR, three Senior HR Business Partners, two HR Managers and one HR Adviser. The firm is known for a collaborative, approachable culture and learning and development programmes that are second to none.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HR MANAGER

- Build trusted relationships with line managers across business services, providing advice and guidance on a broad range of people matters

- Manage complex employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary and grievance cases

- Coach and support managers to drive performance, deliver effective feedback and facilitate meaningful career conversations

- Lead and contribute to HR projects, policy development and process improvements

- Coordinate firmwide accreditations and external submissions, such as the firm's Disability Confident Leader revaluation

- Analyse people data to identify emerging trends and provide insights to support decision making

- Oversee the delivery and ongoing development of the Business Services Academy and Guardian's programme

- Develop HR guidance, communications and resources for managers and employees

- Share knowledge and good practice with HR Business Partners and the wider HR team

- Support firm processes, including performance and salary review

- Manage relationships with external partners supporting neurodiversity, wellbeing and inclusion, working alongside the Inclusion and CSR team where appropriate

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN AN HR MANAGER

- Experience working as an HR Manager or as an experienced Senior HR Adviser, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment

- A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to look beyond technical HR advice to add value to the business

- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously

- The ability to adapt your communication style to different audiences

- A collaborative, flexible approach and a willingness to contribute to the wider HR team

WHY JOIN

You will be part of a cohesive, supportive team that recognises your contribution and encourages you to get involved. The culture is challenging yet supportive, and the firm invests seriously in your development.
