Are you an experienced Principal Traffic Engineer looking for your next challenge?
 
Our client is an ambitious authority who are seeking an experienced Principal Traffic Engineer to join them on a contract basis, initially for 6 months.
 
Key Responsibilities:
·To provide professional and technical leadership within the Traffic Team and ensure the effective development and delivery of traffic management, road safety, parking and highway improvement programmes.
·The postholder will lead complex projects from investigation and feasibility through design, consultation, statutory processes, procurement, construction and post-implementation review.
·They will provide authoritative professional advice, manage staff and resources, and ensure that projects are evidence-led, legally compliant, technically robust, financially controlled and delivered in accordance with Council policies, relevant legislation and recognised engineering standards
 
What is required?
·Substantial professional experience in traffic engineering, traffic management, road safety, highways, transport planning or a closely related discipline.
·Comprehensive knowledge of traffic engineering and road-safety principles.
·Sound working knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, technical standards and recognised industry practice.
·Experience analysing and interpreting collision, speed, traffic, consultation, financial and other technical data.
·Experience preparing technical reports, formal correspondence and briefings for senior management or elected-Member decision-making.
·Experience of public consultation, stakeholder engagement and managing sensitive or contentious issues.
·Experience managing budgets, programmes, risks, resources and competing priorities.
