Real Estate Finance – Origination

Location: Canary Wharf, London

An established financial services organisation is looking to appoint a Real Estate Finance Origination professional to support the growth of its commercial real estate lending portfolio.

This is an opportunity for a commercially minded relationship manager with strong origination skills to develop new business, manage an existing client portfolio and structure financing solutions across the commercial real estate sector.

1. Originate new business through existing client relationships, broker networks, intermediaries and personal connections.
2. Develop and manage a portfolio of commercial real estate clients, acting as a trusted relationship partner.
3. Identify and appraise new lending opportunities, structuring and negotiating terms with clients and intermediaries.
4. Prepare credit proposals and present transactions to Credit Committee.
5. Manage transactions from initial origination through to completion, working closely with internal stakeholders and external legal advisers.
6. Build and maintain a strong network of introducers to generate new business and grow the portfolio.
7. Monitor portfolio performance, including covenant compliance, facility extensions, rollovers and client drawdowns.
8. Work closely with credit, legal, compliance, finance and operations teams to ensure transactions are executed effectively.
9. Support the development of business strategy and contribute to the growth and profitability of the wider team.
10. Provide guidance and support to more junior team members where required.

1. Experience in commercial real estate finance, ideally with exposure to lending origination and relationship management.
2. A strong understanding of the commercial real estate market and the sources of new business.
3. Proven ability to develop client relationships, build introducer networks and identify commercial opportunities.
4. Experience in credit analysis, risk assessment and preparing credit papers.
5. Strong negotiation, presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
6. Understanding of real estate finance facilities and security documentation; familiarity with LMA documentation would be advantageous.
7. Ability to manage transactions effectively, balancing commercial objectives with appropriate risk management.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
