We're partnering with a leading, household-name business to appoint an ambitious and technically strong finance professional into a key position within its established finance function.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA-qualified accountant who began their career in Big 4 audit, has since gained at least two years' industry experience and is now looking to take the next step in their career.

If you enjoy the technical side of finance, have a strong grounding in audit and financial reporting, and are looking to combine this with people leadership within a complex, multi-site retail or hospitality environment, this could be a fantastic opportunity.

The Opportunity

Reporting into Senior Management, you'll play an important role in the delivery of high-quality financial accounting and reporting across a large and complex business.

This is a technically focused leadership position, combining financial reporting, accounting standards, audit, controls and governance with the management and development of a team.

You'll be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial information, maintaining robust accounting processes and supporting the business through its financial reporting and audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of finance professionals, providing guidance, support and technical expertise.
• Oversee financial accounting and reporting activities, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely delivery.
• Take ownership of month-end and year-end accounting processes.
• Ensure robust balance sheet controls, reconciliations and financial governance.
• Apply and interpret IFRS and US GAAP accounting standards, ensuring compliance with relevant reporting requirements.
• Support statutory reporting, external audit and technical accounting matters.
• Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, managing queries and ensuring audit requirements are met.
• Review accounting treatments, identify technical issues and provide appropriate recommendations.
• Drive improvements across financial controls, processes and reporting.
• Work closely with senior finance stakeholders and wider business teams.
• Support the continued development of the finance function, promoting best practice and strong financial discipline.

About You

We're particularly interested in speaking with accountants who have a strong technical foundation from practice and have successfully transitioned into industry.

You'll ideally have:

• ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA qualification, with a Big 4 audit background strongly preferred.
• At least two years' experience working within industry following your move from practice.
• Experience within retail, hospitality, FMCG, consumer or another complex, multi-site business.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and US GAAP.
• A solid grounding in external audit, statutory reporting and financial controls.
• Experience overseeing month-end, year-end and balance sheet reporting.
• The confidence to interpret accounting standards and deal with complex technical accounting matters.
• Experience managing, mentoring or developing finance professionals.
• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to challenge and influence where needed.

You'll be someone who enjoys the technical side of accounting but also understands the importance of building relationships, developing people and working collaboratively across a business.
