Master Data Specialist (SAP S/4HANA Migration and Data Archiving) - Kings Cross, London (4 days hybrid) | Fixed Term Contract to Dec 2027 | £75,000

A global manufacturing business is moving from SAP ECC to S/4HANA and needs an experienced master data specialist to lead two linked pieces of work: getting master data ready for the migration, and cutting down years of legacy data held across its global operations. The aim is to reduce around 5TB of data to 1.5TB.

This is a standalone role. You’ll be the business’s master data specialist, working directly with data owners across the company, the internal IT team, a US-based systems integrator delivering the migration, and a managed service provider running support alongside it.

This is an urgent hire, so we’re looking for someone available to start on one month’s notice or less.

What you’ll be doing

S/4HANA migration

  • Analysing master data to find duplicates, gaps and inconsistencies, then coordinating the clean-up with business owners
  • Preparing customer, supplier, material and Finance data for conversion, including Business Partner / CVI readiness
  • Supporting test cycles, conversion rehearsals and UAT: preparing test data, validating results, logging defects and retesting
  • Reconciling source and converted data to confirm completeness and accuracy

Legacy data reduction and archiving

  • Identifying data for retention, archiving, historical access or deletion, and documenting findings for business-owner decisions
  • Supporting company-code rationalisation and wider data reduction work
  • Validating historical data extracts so retained data stays complete and accessible

Across both

  • Acting as the main data contact for the systems integrator and managed service provider
  • Documenting standards, decisions and validation results, and building governance processes that last beyond go-live
  • Working with teams across Finance, Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Quality

What you’ll need

  • Hands-on SAP S/4HANA migration experience (essential)
  • Data archiving and legacy data reduction experience on a large SAP estate (essential)
  • Practical SAP master data experience across ECC and S/4HANA
  • A track record of analysing, cleansing, validating and reconciling business data
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets
  • The confidence to work independently and chase issues through to resolution with internal teams and external partners
  • Able to start on one month’s notice or less

Useful but not essential

  • Familiarity with tools such as SAP MDG, SAP ILM, OpenText or Business Partner/CVI
  • Experience working with systems integrators or managed service providers
  • A background in manufacturing or chemicals

The detail

Fixed Term Contract from start until December 2027. Four days a week in the Kings Cross office. Applicants must have the existing right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available.
