SENDCo - Full-Time Position in Brent - 1 Year Maternity Cover

Location: Brent, North West London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, 5 days per week, term time only
Duration: 1 year maternity cover

An established and welcoming primary school in Brent is seeking an experienced and qualified SENDCo to join its team on a full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SENDCo to take responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and management of SEND provision, ensuring that pupils with additional needs receive appropriate support and that all statutory SEND responsibilities are met.

The school already has a dedicated member of staff responsible for wider inclusion, allowing the successful candidate to focus specifically on SEND coordination, EHCP management, statutory processes and supporting pupils with identified special educational needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with the senior leadership team, class teachers, teaching assistants, parents and external professionals to ensure SEND provision is well organised, effectively delivered and regularly reviewed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate SEND provision across the school, ensuring pupils with identified special educational needs receive appropriate support.

  • Oversee EHCP applications, annual reviews, statutory paperwork and the Assess, Plan, Do, Review (APDR) cycle.

  • Maintain accurate SEND records, including the SEND register, individual support plans and relevant documentation.

  • Liaise with parents, external agencies, educational psychologists and local authority SEND teams to coordinate appropriate support.

  • Monitor the progress of pupils with SEND, reviewing interventions and making adjustments where necessary.

  • Support and advise class teachers and teaching assistants on appropriate strategies, classroom adaptations and the implementation of EHCP provisions.

  • Ensure the school meets its statutory SEND responsibilities in line with the SEND Code of Practice.

Requirements of This SENDCo Role:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the SENDCo NPQ or recognised equivalent qualification.

  • Previous experience working as a SENDCo within a primary school setting.

  • Strong working knowledge of EHCP applications, annual reviews, statutory deadlines and SEND legislation.

  • Experience managing SEND documentation, coordinating assessments and working with external professionals.

  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • A practical, proactive approach to SEND coordination and supporting staff in meeting pupils' individual needs.

Why Apply?

This is a full-time SENDCo position (5 days per week) within a supportive primary school that already has an established structure for wider inclusion.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to concentrate on the core responsibilities of a SENDCo, with a particular emphasis on statutory compliance, EHCP processes, pupil support and the effective coordination of SEND provision.

Apply for this SENDCo role today, or send your CV directly for further information.
