An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Capital Accountant to join a high performing finance team within a complex organisational environment.

Working closely with finance and operational colleagues, you will lead on the organisation's capital accounting, reporting and governance processes, ensuring that capital expenditure is accurately recorded, appropriately authorised and fully compliant with accounting standards and internal policies. You will play a key role in supporting investment decisions and ensuring that capital projects are effectively managed from approval through to completion.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the end-to-end CAPEX process, from business case approval to project close-out.
  • Supporting and challenging business cases, investment appraisals and capital expenditure proposals.
  • Providing expert advice on CAPEX vs OPEX classification and capitalisation principles.
  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register and overseeing depreciation, asset transfers and disposals.
  • Producing accurate CAPEX reporting, forecasting and analysis for senior management.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, financial controls and governance requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting and financial controls.

You should be a qualified accountant, or possess equivalent experience, with a strong background in capital accounting within a large or complex organisation. A thorough understanding of accounting standards relating to capital expenditure, asset recognition, capitalisation, depreciation and impairment is essential. Experience of supporting the full business case lifecycle, from initial appraisal and financial modelling through to implementation and review, would be highly advantageous.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a critical finance function, work closely with senior stakeholders on significant investment decisions and make a meaningful contribution to the organisation's long-term financial performance and capital strategy. For the right candidate, it will provide both challenge and excellent career development opportunities.
