As an Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils access the curriculum, develop their social skills and manage their emotional regulation. You may also use strategies such as visual timetables, PECS, Makaton and sensory activities to support communication, engagement and independence.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children with Autism and/or additional SEND needs.
  • Be patient, compassionate and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting children.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Be confident supporting social interaction, communication and emotional regulation.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals.
  • Have a positive and proactive approach to promoting independence and positive behaviour.

Why consider this opportunity?

  • Develop your skills through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Make a genuine difference to children's learning, confidence and development.
  • Temp-to-permanent opportunity, with the potential to secure a permanent position after 180 working days.

This is a really rewarding opportunity for someone looking to develop their experience within primary education and SEND, working alongside a team committed to helping every child reach their potential.

If you have experience supporting autistic children and are looking for your next opportunity in Redbridge, Academics would love to hear from you!
