FinOps Lead

We’re looking for an experienced FinOps Lead to take ownership of cloud financial management across our customer environments. You’ll combine strong FinOps expertise with commercial awareness, technical understanding and stakeholder management to help customers understand, optimise and control their cloud spend.

This is a customer-facing role where you’ll act as a trusted FinOps SME, providing clear insight into cloud consumption and costs while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and maximise value across Azure and AWS environments.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead FinOps activities across customer cloud environments, helping customers understand where their cloud spend is going and why.
  • Analyse Azure and AWS consumption, identifying cost trends, optimisation opportunities and areas of potential waste.
  • Provide clear, actionable recommendations that help customers optimise cloud costs without compromising performance or service quality.
  • Build a strong understanding of each customer's environment, business priorities and cloud strategy.
  • Use Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer and third-party Cloud Financial Management tooling to analyse and report on cloud expenditure.
  • Create meaningful reports, dashboards and insights using Excel and Power BI.
  • Work closely with Finance, Procurement, Service Management and Technology stakeholders to embed effective FinOps practices.
  • Partner with engineering and consulting teams where optimisation opportunities require technical changes or project-based delivery.
  • Support Sales teams by identifying emerging customer requirements, challenges and opportunities.
  • Manage customer activity and service requests effectively through ServiceNow.
  • Stay up to date with developments in cloud technology, pricing models and FinOps best practice.

What we're looking for

You'll bring strong experience in FinOps or Cloud Financial Management, with the ability to confidently interpret cloud costs and communicate complex financial and technical information to a range of stakeholders.

You'll also have:

  • Strong knowledge of cloud cost management across Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Cost Management and AWS Cost Explorer.
  • Experience with third-party Cloud Financial Management or FinOps platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience using Power BI for reporting and data visualisation.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • An understanding of how Finance, Procurement, Service Management and Technology teams operate and the different priorities they bring to cloud financial management.
  • The confidence to act as a FinOps subject matter expert with both customers and internal teams.

Certifications

Essential:

  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

Desirable:

  • FinOps Certified Practitioner
  • AWS or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect certification
