Management Accountant | Founder-Led Beauty Brand - #2185953
Harmonic Group Ltd
Management Accountant | Founder-Led Beauty Brand | Central London
The Client
We are partnering with a much-loved British beauty brand, sold in more than 35 countries and backed by serial beauty entrepreneurs with household-name brands to their credit. Despite its international reach, the wider business retains a start-up feel and a small team. The culture is deliberately non-corporate: few meetings, little bureaucracy and a social team.
The Role
This is a new, hands-on Management Accountant role dedicated to the brand as it joins a growing beauty group, reporting to the group Financial Controller. You will own the brand's numbers end to end: month-end, management accounts, the balance sheet and, above all, stock. AP and AR are handled elsewhere, so your time goes on accounting and analysis rather than processing.
Working day to day with the brand's founders and the group operations team, you will help bring its finance processes and reporting into line with the wider business. The first few months will be busy and unstructured, so this suits someone who can hit the ground running and enjoys fixing things.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the month-end close and monthly management accounts for the brand, with clear commentary on performance and variances
- Own stock accounting: valuation, reconciliations and counts, investigating variances and fixing their root causes
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Prepare accruals, prepayments, journals and close adjustments
- Partner with the brand's founders and the group operations team on margin, stock and performance
- Produce monthly and ad hoc reporting to support decision making
- Bring the brand's processes and controls into line with the group as it integrates
- Build the controls and audit readiness the business needs as it scales
Essential Experience
- Newly qualified or finalist ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- Hands-on stock experience: valuation, reconciliations and managing stock variances
- Experience in FMCG, retail, consumer goods or another inventory-led business
- Strong month-end, management accounts and balance sheet experience
- Strong Excel and systems skills
- Curious and self-starting, happy to question how things are done and put them right without being asked
Desirable Experience
- Xero, QuickBooks, Unleashed or Cin7
- Exposure to an audit or an ERP implementation
- Experience supporting a business through integration or rapid growth
