Senior Audit Manager

Top 100 Accountancy Firm – London

An established Top 100 accountancy practice in London is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Audit Manager to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious audit professional to take on a senior leadership position, managing a varied portfolio of audit clients, leading and developing teams, and playing an important role in the firm's continued growth.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Partners, taking responsibility for audit quality, technical standards, client relationships and the commercial performance of their portfolio. There will also be an opportunity to work towards becoming a Responsible Individual (RI), with a longer-term progression route towards Partnership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, manage and review audit engagements from initial planning through to completion, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain strong technical standards across UK GAAP, IFRS and FRS 102, providing guidance to teams and overseeing the final review of audit files.
  • Lead, mentor and develop audit seniors and junior staff, managing workloads, reviewing performance and supporting career progression.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and providing a high level of service and commercial advice.
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements, manage audit risks and maintain high-quality engagement delivery.
  • Support the Partners in identifying new business opportunities, contributing to tenders and developing existing client relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to improve audit processes, introduce effective working practices and enhance overall team efficiency.
  • Support Partners with the management and financial performance of a broad client portfolio, ensuring profitability and effective resource planning.
  • Attend pre- and post-audit meetings, working closely with Partners and clients to ensure expectations and deadlines are met.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • ACA / ACCA qualified or equivalent, with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS and FRS 102.
  • Proven experience managing a substantial audit portfolio within an accountancy practice.
  • Experience in both audit and accounts preparation, with a good understanding of corporation tax.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage, motivate and develop teams.
  • Confident managing senior client relationships and dealing with complex technical matters.
  • Commercially aware, with experience overseeing portfolio profitability and identifying opportunities for business growth.
  • Able to operate confidently at senior management level and work closely with Partners.

RI status is not essential, although candidates should demonstrate the experience and potential to work towards becoming a Responsible Individual.

The Opportunity

This is a chance to join a respected Top 100 London accountancy firm in a senior position with genuine scope to influence the audit department, develop the team and contribute to the firm's future direction.

For the right individual, the role offers a clear opportunity to progress towards RI status and ultimately Partnership.
