A leading quantitative investment firm is seeking a Crude & Fuel Oil Analyst to join its growing commodities team.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious analyst to work alongside experienced traders and portfolio managers, combining fundamental oil market expertise with quantitative research and data-driven trading strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse global crude oil, fuel oil, refining and shipping markets.
• Monitor supply, demand, inventories, trade flows, refinery activity and geopolitical developments.
• Build and maintain market models and analytical tools.
• Analyse large datasets and develop automated workflows using Python.
• Research alternative data sources to identify market opportunities and trading signals.
• Partner closely with traders and portfolio managers to support investment decisions.
• Produce high-quality market research and actionable insights.

Requirements

• 2-6 years' experience in energy markets, commodities, trading, research, consulting, banking or investment management.
• Strong understanding of crude oil, fuel oil, refining, shipping or petroleum markets.
• Advanced Python skills and experience working with large datasets.
• Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear commercial insights.
• Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or Finance.

Preferred Experience

• Working directly with traders or portfolio managers.
• Systematic trading, quantitative research or alpha generation.
• SQL, machine learning or data engineering.
• Tanker markets, refinery economics or physical oil trading.
• Alternative datasets such as vessel tracking, satellite or inventory data.
