Interim Senior Site Manager

Location: Lewisham Way Campus
Department: Estates and Facilities

Contract: Interim, Full time - 9am-5pm

About the Role

Here at The Supply Register, we are proud to be working in partnership with NCG. We are looking for an experienced, proactive and hands-on Senior Site Manager to lead the day-to-day site operations at our Lewisham Way campus.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will take responsibility for ensuring our buildings and grounds are safe, secure, compliant and well maintained, helping to provide an excellent environment for our students, staff and visitors.

You will lead and support a team of six premises staff, oversee contractors and maintenance programmes, manage site security and compliance, and coordinate a range of facilities projects and operational activities. Working closely with the Head of Estates and wider Facilities team, you will play a key role in delivering an effective, customer-focused estates service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site and Facilities Management: Oversee the daily operation, maintenance and upkeep of campus buildings, grounds and external areas. Coordinate maintenance schedules, minor works and premises projects.

  • Security and Emergency Response: Manage site opening and closing arrangements, CCTV, fire alarms, intruder alarms and access systems. Coordinate out-of-hours emergency responses and ensure effective security arrangements.

  • Health, Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and college policies. Oversee fire safety arrangements, risk assessments, emergency planning and contractor safety.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, supervise and motivate a team of six premises staff. Manage rotas, absences and weekend cover, while supporting staff development and mentoring apprentices.

  • Contractor and Budget Management: Oversee external contractors, monitor service standards and manage site-related budgets, procurement and resources to ensure value for money.

  • Operational and Event Support: Coordinate facilities support for college events, room setups, office moves and temporary installations, working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation.

  • Administration and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, maintenance schedules and compliance documentation, supporting audits and ISO accreditation requirements.

You will also champion excellent customer service, contribute to continuous improvement and ensure the campus remains safe, welcoming and operational throughout the year.

About You

You will be an experienced facilities or site management professional with a practical, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to lead a team and manage a busy, multi-functional site.

You will bring:

  • At least five years' experience in facilities or site management.

  • Experience of managing staff, contractors, site operations and maintenance projects.

  • Experience within an educational or public sector environment.

  • Knowledge of fire alarms, CCTV, access control and security systems.

  • A good understanding of health and safety legislation, including COSHH and manual handling.

  • Experience of minor repairs, maintenance and supervising porterage duties.

  • The ability to oversee electrical and plumbing works and respond to faults.

  • Experience of managing budgets, maintenance plans and resources.

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, email and databases.

  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

You will be professional, reliable and adaptable, with the ability to respond effectively to emergencies and changing priorities. A collaborative approach, strong leadership skills and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion are essential.

Qualifications

You will have:

  • GCSEs in English and Maths, or equivalent.

  • City & Guilds Electrical Installation qualification.

  • Basic Health and Safety qualification, such as IOSH Managing Safely.

Additional qualifications in carpentry, plumbing, decorating or NEBOSH would be advantageous.

Important Requirements

This role involves shift working, including evenings and weekends, and participation in the out-of-hours emergency callout arrangements. Applicants must live within 30 minutes of the Lewisham Way campus to support emergency response requirements.

You must also be able to drive college vehicles, including vans.

Why Join Us?

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a busy campus environment, lead a dedicated premises team and make a tangible contribution to the experience of our students, staff and wider college community.

If you are an experienced site or facilities manager who takes pride in maintaining high standards, leading people and delivering an excellent service, we would love to hear from you.

NCG is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All staff are expected to share this commitment.
