The Role & Responsibilities

The person in this position will play a frontline role in promoting Shawbrook’s brand story by;

  • Supporting our Head of Brand Strategy to develop and deliver a proactive, innovative, and creative strategic PR and media relations programme that supports the growth of the Shawbrook brand
  • Communicating a compelling brand story that support Shawbrook’s financial objectives
  • Building PR campaigns, news flow and monthly reports with PR agency support
  • Developing and managing key media relationships
  • Ensuring Shawbrook’s Employee Value Proposition (EVP) is championed as a core pillar of our thought leadership and PR activity, leveraging our experience principles and purpose as unique elements of what makes Shawbrook able to deliver great customer outcomes.
  • Establishing the team as the ‘go to’ for all press related enquiries and management internally across the group.
  • Identifying potential reputational issues that could impact the business and work with the business to minimize impact; planning and delivering practical and effective communications.
  • Developing and delivering appropriate content, including liaison with Group-wide content contributors for Annual/ Interim Reporting.
  • Working collaboratively across the organisation, the wider marketing team and within the Brand Strategy team

The Person

  • Affiliation to and/or qualification from a professional body e.g. CIPR is desirable
  • Strong working experience in a similar Corporate Communications & PR role
  • Significant demonstrable experience in media relations gained either in agency, or in a fast-moving, proactive and reactive news environment
  • Extensive experience gained across a range of communications disciplines in a corporate body or in a communications consultancy
  • Understanding and working experience of media, especially consumer, business and personal finance
  • Existing and established network of media contacts with the ability to build and maintain new relationships
  • Experience of social media is desirable
  • Excellent copywriting skills – writing for impact and to reflect the Shawbrook brand, our values and tone of voice
  • Experience of maintaining and improving the perception of brand
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Track record of developing strong internal and external networks and of building and nurturing engaged communities
  • Sound banking industry and business understanding
  • Strong commercial focus; external awareness of market/industry/regulatory issues
  • Experience of successfully managing sensitive issues and crises
  • You will have worked closely with Senior Management and can influence decision making at all levels
  • Communicate and escalate potential issues/risks in a prompt and effective manner
