About the Role

We are looking for a Controls Engineer with a strong focus on lighting control systems to join the team at their London studio. This is a key technical role that will see you take projects from concept through to final commissioning—designing, specifying, and implementing bespoke lighting control systems for a wide range of prestigious projects.

You’ll work across multiple departments including Lighting Design, Product Design, and Procurement, and collaborate with brands such as Lutron, Rako, Pharos, Hippotizer, and others to deliver intelligent, integrated solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Focus

  • Develop and support integrated lighting and AV control solutions for premium international projects
  • Collaborate with internal teams on the technical delivery of unique and complex lighting installations
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and subject matter expertise within the team
  • Review and cross-check drawings, schedules, and technical specifications to identify and resolve inconsistencies

External Focus

  • Liaise with lighting designers, contractors, and stakeholders to design, install, and commission functional control systems
  • Conduct site surveys and document system requirements for new or existing installations
  • Provide hands-on on-site support, troubleshooting and overseeing installations globally
  • Ensure project ownership from inception through to successful handover

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • DALI certification and hands-on experience with DMX lighting controls
  • Proven experience in architectural lighting design
  • 2+ years’ experience in lighting control system programming and integration
  • Familiarity with DALI, DMX, and ArtNet protocols
  • Strong background in AV system design and technical infrastructure
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills for all stakeholder levels
  • Ability to travel internationally and work on-site when required
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and as part of a team

Desirable Skills

  • Certifications in home automation or lighting control systems (e.g. Lutron, KNX, Rako)
  • Networking certifications or working knowledge of IP-based systems
  • Experience with CAD and the ability to interpret electrical schematics
  • Basic electrical knowledge or qualifications
  • Familiarity with dynamic lighting, media servers, or live entertainment lighting consoles

What’s on Offer

  • Join a dynamic and creative team in a vibrant, newly designed studio space in London
  • Access to mock-up and testing facilities for real-world prototyping and experimentation
  • Regular team social events, including casual Friday meetups
  • 24 days annual leave plus public holidays
  • Competitive salary + annual performance bonuses
  • Generous employee benefits package
  • A fast-paced, rewarding environment where innovation and collaboration thrive

If you're a hands-on Controls Engineer with a passion for lighting technology and project delivery at the highest level, we’d love to hear from you.
