- About the role
- The Corporate Collections Team at Hillingdon Council plays a vital part in ensuring the financial health of the organisation. Responsible for issuing approximately 25,000 invoices and collecting over £55 million annually, the team contributes significantly to the Council's income.
As a key team member, you will:
- Utilise a variety of communication methods to minimise and recover outstanding debt.
- Liaise with both internal departments and external organisations to ensure the correct recovery actions are taken.
- Respond to written and telephone enquiries, and meet residents face-to-face where necessary.
- Prepare accurate reports and statements, process credit notes and refunds, and resolve invoice queries from clients.
- Maintain the debtor database and ensure all information is accurate and updated.
- Support other teams within the Transactional Finance function, including the Corporate Payments Team, as required.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a financial environment, with a focus on debt recovery or credit control.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong attention to detail and can work efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills when dealing with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Possesses sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and financial software.
- Has an understanding of relevant legislation and can apply it appropriately within the role.
This is a hybrid role based at the Civic Centre in Uxbridge with the flexibility to work from home. Typically, the post involves two days per week in the office, although this may vary depending on the needs of the service and Council policy.
