Our client, a leading organisation within the rail sector, is seeking a Project Manager (Rolling Stock/Fleet) to join their team on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful management of Transport for London's (TfL) obligations and partners/suppliers in delivering assigned non-complex projects. The Project Manager will be accountable for delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the agreed scope and quality. You will support Senior Project Managers and optimise the allocation and utilisation of project management professionals, subject matter experts, and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and manage non-complex projects with a value of up to £40m using delivery methodology and governance structures.
  • Lead a high-performing team through effective management, development, and empowerment of staff.
  • Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with the Contractor/Delivery partner's project management team.
  • Negotiate, procure, and authorise all project contracts and variations within agreed authority levels.
  • Manage performance and development responsibilities for direct reports, including appraisals and performance management.
  • Agree major project requirements with the Project Sponsor/Contract Manager.
  • Identify and manage interfaces and dependencies between assigned projects and ongoing network activities/projects.
  • Prepare and manage a project implementation plan, including responsibility matrix, detailed programmes, and cost and resource plans.
  • Manage project governance, reporting, and control structures, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and contribute to the TfL Health and Safety culture.
Job Requirements:
  • Experience in civil project management within the rail sector.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of project and programme management methodologies and their application in a transport setting.
  • Understanding of project control tools and techniques.
  • Professional Qualification in Project Management such as PRINCE2 or APMP.
  • Knowledge of project budgeting, procurement processes, and contract management.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification (desirable).
