Graduate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Hackney
Location: Hackney, East London Job Type: Full-time, Term-time only Pay: £90-£105 per day (depending on experience)
Are you a graduate interested in a career in special educational needs (SEN) teaching, educational psychology, or therapy? A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Hackney is looking for a motivated Graduate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their SEN team and gain hands-on experience supporting students with additional needs.
This full-time, term-time role offers invaluable practical experience working with young people who have EHCPs, including needs such as autism, ADHD, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. It's a perfect stepping stone if you want to build a career in SEN education or related fields.
What you'll be doing:
- Providing 1:1 support to a student with an EHCP to help them access learning and develop confidence
- Assisting with communication, emotional regulation, and social skills development
- Working closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement tailored support plans
- Observing and recording progress to contribute to reviews and interventions
- Developing your understanding of SEN strategies and best practice in schools

- A recent graduate or someone looking to build experience in SEN support roles
- Genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs
- Patience, empathy and strong communication skills
- An interest in progressing into SEN teaching, educational psychology, or therapy careers
