Temporary Works Design Engineer - #1727011

We are seeking an experienced Temporary Works Design Engineer to join a dynamic and multidisciplinary engineering team delivering a range of complex infrastructure and construction projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the design, coordination, and approval of temporary works schemes, ensuring they meet technical, safety, and regulatory standards.

• Design and assess temporary works including (but not limited to): falsework, formwork, access platforms, scaffolding, propping, hoardings, excavation support, and crane bases.

• Produce detailed design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation in accordance with current codes, standards, and project requirements.

• Liaise with site teams, project engineers, and external stakeholders to develop safe, practical, and economical solutions.

• Undertake site visits and inspections to monitor the implementation of temporary works and provide technical support during construction.

• Manage the approval process for temporary works, including preparation and presentation of design briefs and design risk assessments.

• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, health and safety legislation, and relevant quality assurance procedures.

• Assist in the development of standard temporary works solutions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians as required.

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).

• Chartered or working towards Chartered status with a relevant professional institution (e.g. ICE or IStructE).

• Strong understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards, and temporary works procedures (e.g. BS 5975).

• Proficiency in structural analysis software.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.

• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.

• Experience with BIM coordination and 3D modelling tools.

• Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or Supervisor (TWS) training.

• Knowledge of site operations and construction sequencing.
