Economist Impact Events is rooted in the mission of The Economist newspaper to lead healthy debate in pursuit of progress. We convene conferences and conversations on subjects ranging from Fintech, to AI, to the health of global oceans to the role of corporations in society.
We empower businesses, governments and foundations to catalyse change and enable progress. Uniting the expertise The Economist Group is known for under a single brand, Economist Impact brings together policy research and insights, data visualisation, custom storytelling, events and media.
Economist Impact combines the rigour of a think tank with the creativity of a media brand, engaging an influential audience in the areas of sustainability, healthcare and new globalisation.
The Role
The Event Manager will be responsible for the project management and operational delivery of events produced by Economist Impact Events. This position reports into the Event Director, Scheduled Events (London) and will plan, coordinate and control the activities of event projects to meet organisational and operational objectives.

The Role
The Event Manager will be responsible for the project management and operational delivery of events produced by Economist Impact Events. This position reports into the Event Director, Scheduled Events (London) and will plan, coordinate and control the activities of event projects to meet organisational and operational objectives.
Project Management
What you'll do
- Lead project planning meetings ensuring agendas, minutes and actions and delivered
- Liaison point for internal teams to coordinate between functions
- Speaker and sponsorship management
- Creation and delivery of presentations, key processes, and standard documents
- Build and manage project timelines to include all deliverables and scope of work
- Ensure client objectives are received, understood and met through each project
- Coordinate and log all internal kick offs and client debriefs
- Create and manage Case Studies
- Manage project budgets
- Carry out operations policies and processes are delivered as required
- Location and venue selection
- Event app platform build
- Supplier and venue management
- Ability to influence event design
- Ownership of all logistics and event delivery
- Staging and production design
- All event aspects including accommodation, catering, signage, attendee experience, etc
- Extensive experience in event management with a strong focus on delivering high impact conferences, managing speakers and sponsors
- Strong planning and organisational skills, and attention to detail
- Experience with international events in the b2b industry
- Demonstrated experience managing events
- Proficiency in CRM systems advantageous
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google applications advantageous
- Proven experience in leading agencies and contractors
- Strong budget management skills and able to maximise impact while controlling costs
- Creative and innovative mind-set, ad-hoc problem-solving and ability to deal with ambiguity
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with experience in influencing cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders
- Analytical mindset, able to interpret data and apply insights to improve event performance and refine strategy.
- Track record in working effectively with cross-functional and international teams
- A willingness to travel and ability to work independently and autonomously, and work across time zones
- Bachelor’s degree in event management, marketing, business, communications, or related field
- Exceptional client management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a changing, fast-paced work environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with event technologies, and ability to assess new technologies and make strategic recommendations
- Able to fulfil flexible working hours during busy periods, and travel as required
- Pro-active, reliable, results orientated
- Curiosity and a basic interest in global affairs
- Strong presentation skills
- Works well under pressure
