The role of Power BI Developer

The Business Solutions team at GLAS is responsible for delivering innovative digital and technological initiatives as outlined in their strategic roadmap. With the significant growth of the overall business the team is now looking for an experienced Power BI developer with a finance background, specifically in Debt Capital Markets, to join them in delivering a varied range of global reporting initiatives.

You will be responsible for managing client external reports across various debt product solutions, including restructurings and equity products. This role requires strong skills in report and dashboard development using Power BI and Report Builder ensuring they align with the standards and best practices implemented. You will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities and be proficient in Power Query, DAX, and the Power Platform. A solid understanding of SQL Server databases, data warehousing, and data modelling concepts is essential. You must be capable of independently writing SQL scripts, including Stored Procedures and Views, and optimizing their execution. Knowledge of deployment pipelines and maintaining governance around workspaces and report development will be crucial in this role.

A crucial aspect of this role is engaging with business stakeholders and collaborating closely with clients to ensure that report deliverables meet the highest quality and accuracy standards. You will participate in the requirements gathering phase and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and external clients. You must confidently present technical concepts to both clients and business stakeholders, and, when necessary, provide training on the final deliverable.

You will also engage in driving continuous improvement in this discipline by implementing optimized process flows and automation workflows. You will look to dedicate time to investigating new Power BI features and conduct cross-collaboration knowledge share sessions to highlight better ways of working.

Key Skills Required

• At least 5+ years’ experience with Power BI, Report builder, Power Query and DAX.
• Experience in building paginated Reports, embedding reports and implementing RLS.
• Proven experience of SQL Server databases and the MS SQL Server Stack.
• Must be able to write SQL scripts including Stored Procedures and Views.
• Must be able to explain complex technical concepts to senior stakeholders.
• Must have strong communication and presentation skills.
• Must have strong Excel and tabulation experience.
• Experience in Data Modelling and Data Visualisation.
• Experience in Debt Capital Markets is strongly desirable.
• Experience in Power Automate & PowerApps.
• Experience in Data warehousing and SQL optimization.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, and experience in a customer service or client-facing environment.
• Natural problem Solver.
• Educated to degree level or evidence of strong academic achievement in a related field.
• Familiar with SDLC / Waterfall / Agile development techniques.
• Familiar with BI governance and best practice implementation including deployment pipelines and RBAC security models.
