Purpose of the job
The Digital Lead/Manager will lead the development and execution of social media channel strategies for the global communications team, encompassing both corporate and scientific campaigns. This role involves creating organic social media proposals in line with global communication objectives and developing frameworks to leverage social insights for strategic and creative decisions across digital communications and channels. Additionally, the Digital Lead/Manager will be responsible for managing the social media governance framework for corporate channels globally, driving the development of guidelines, ensuring compliance and managing various requests to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of our social media presence.

The day to day requires a strong understanding of corporate and scientific communications, crisis communications, data, and digital strategy. It also involves cross-collaboration, ensuring effective communication and coordination across varying levels of the organization to ensure that all social media activations are aligned with PMI's strategic goals and objectives.

Key Accountabilities
Social Media Strategy and Development
- Manage digital campaigns with a focus on corporate communications and scientific content. This includes planning, developing, and executing campaigns to ensure they meet objectives.
- Develop channel strategy proposals for global communications, identifying the best channels and tactics to reach target audiences.
- Own and lead the development of global channel content, including newsletters and channel updates, and provide strategic advice to stakeholders.
- Manage the social media calendar, coordinating with teams to gather content and monitor performance.
- Support supervisor to ensure all campaigns are managed effectively and aligned with corporate and scientific objectives, acting as deputy when needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate social media strategies with broader communication plans.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive channel strategy for social media governance. This involves managing the rollout of the new governance framework for all corporate global and market accounts, with support from the Governance Specialist.
- Review regular audits of social media accounts with supervisor, updating governance guidelines according to channel updates on GC communication objectives or risk prevention methods.
- Escalate governance-related issues and crises, working closely with the crisis communications team to implement revised processes for GC and market accounts.
- Provide training and support to team members, regions, and communication teams to ensure understanding and adherence to social media governance policies and best practices.
- Implement and manage social listening and reporting tools to monitor and analyze online conversations. Identify opportunities for engagement, understand public perception, and develop communication strategies accordingly.
- Analyze and report on the performance of digital content and social media campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Monitor social media trends, tools, and applications, and apply them to enhance the digital content strategy.
- Bachelor, PhD or Master Degree in Science
- 7+ years of experience in:
- Agency or in-house experience in communications and digital strategy within the corporate sector.
- Working and navigating complex, cross-functional projects while collaborating with internal stakeholders
- Experience in governance and social media management.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful social media campaigns.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, tools, and analytics.
- Ability to build strong partnerships built on trust with multiple stakeholders
- Disciplined and collaborative - to engage, collate and interpret requirements and ensure that the right people are engaged at the right time through the process
- Up to date with PMI’s corporate messaging and smoke-free products to support the creation of content efficiently.
- Results driver – urgency and bias for timely action and concrete outcomes
- Effective communication with team and senior management
- Excellent written and spoken English
