Construction Manager - Pre-Construction Civils (Freelance)

East Midlands / East Anglia

Start: ASAP

Contract: Freelance / Outside IR35 Considered

Red Sky Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a trusted civil engineering contractor delivering a major pre-construction civils package as part of a regulated AMP8 water infrastructure framework. We are now seeking a hands-on Construction Manager with proven experience in wastewater and sewage treatment civils, including reinforced concrete (FRC), storm tanks and drainage systems.

Scope of Works:

This role is site-based and central to the safe and efficient delivery of foul water infrastructure under Severn Trent Water. You'll oversee all direct labour, subcontractors and plant across the site, driving quality and performance in line with framework and programme expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and coordinate day-to-day site operations on a busy sewage treatment and stormwater works site

Manage subcontractors, plant and labour teams to ensure delivery is safe, compliant and efficient

Lead works involving formwork, reinforcement, concrete, drainage systems and enabling works

Maintain high health & safety and environmental standards, delivering daily briefings and toolbox talks

Ensure correct sequencing and availability of materials, labour and equipment

Work closely with the Project Manager and engineering team to maintain programme momentum

Contribute to resolving site issues quickly to avoid delays or quality issues

Essential Requirements:

Significant experience as a Construction Manager on heavy civils or wastewater infrastructure schemes

Technical understanding of FRC, storm tanks and drainage-based packages

SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)

CSCS (Black or Gold card)

First Aid at Work (in-date)

CAT & Genny Training

Excellent leadership, coordination and team management skills

Desirable Experience:

Confined Spaces Training (Medium or High Risk)

Prior experience within AMP frameworks, especially Severn Trent

Familiarity with pre-construction delivery and temporary works

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities

Comfortable managing high-volume, high-risk environments
