About AKA

AKA is a world-leading marketing and communications agency specialising in the culture and

entertainment sectors. With offices in Europe and North America, we work with renowned

theatres, museums, galleries, production companies, and destinations. Our mission is to

create work that moves people—powered by beauty (distinctive branding), storytelling

(compelling creative), and data (precision targeting and insight).

The Role

We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Email Marketing Manager to take ownership of

planning, executing, and optimising email and CRM campaigns across our client portfolio.

You’ll join our Digital Product Development team, working closely with Design, Data, UX,

and Strategy & Account Management to deliver high-impact campaigns that enhance the

customer journey and drive measurable results.

This is a pivotal role that blends technical CRM execution with strategic input. You’ll help

embed CRM thinking across the agency, improve campaign performance, and shape client

engagement strategies in the dynamic world of arts, entertainment, and culture.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Execution

  • Build, test, and deploy email marketing campaigns including automated journeys,

newsletters, and transactional communications.

  • Manage email platforms (e.g., Mailjet, Dotdigital, Mailchimp) and ensure CRM

systems are running efficiently.

  • Maintain data accuracy: segment audiences, clean data, manage imports/exports,

and configure dynamic content.

  • Monitor and report on campaign KPIs: open rate, CTR, conversions, engagement,

deliverability.

  • Conduct A/B testing to refine content, subject lines, and send times.
  • Troubleshoot deliverability or platform-related issues proactively.

Strategic CRM & Lifecycle Marketing

  • Develop customer journey strategies tailored to different audience segments and

lifecycle stages.

  • Use data and insights to identify opportunities for optimisation and recommend

campaign enhancements.

  • Align email marketing calendars with broader brand and marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with teams to enhance multi-channel acquisition and retention

strategies.

  • Contribute to the long-term CRM strategy for the agency and advocate for best

practice across teams.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Work alongside:
  • Data & Insights to align segmentation, targeting, and campaign analytics.
  • Strategy & Account Managment to coordinate messaging and campaign

goals.

  • Design & UX to create seamless, on-brand customer experiences.
  • Ticketing and Sales to support audience conversion and engagement.

You’ll be a go-to expert for all things CRM and email, supporting internal education and

contributing to the agency’s evolving CRM proposition.

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Experience

  • At least three years’ hands-on experience in email marketing or digital marketing

roles.

  • Strong knowledge of email service platforms (Mailchimp, Dotdigital, Mailjet or

similar).

  • Deep understanding of audience segmentation, data-driven targeting, and campaign

personalisation.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple campaigns with tight

deadlines.

  • Analytical mindset with ability to extract actionable insights from data.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Awareness of GDPR, PECR and email marketing compliance.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in the arts, culture, or live entertainment sector.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Braze or similar CRM tools.
  • Experience integrating CRM systems and/or managing CRM customisation projects.
  • Previous experience delivering training or mentoring others on CRM tools or

strategy.

  • A proactive, curious mindset with a passion for customer engagement.
