About Fussy

Hey good smelling! We’re Fussy…about everything in our mission to banish single-use plastic from your bathroom. Having experienced exceptional growth over the past four years, we are now looking for a talented individual to join the team as NPD Executive.

As NPD Executive, you’ll work directly with our Head of NPD to bring innovative, sustainable personal care products to life - from concept to launch.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be responsible for supporting the development of innovative Fussy products by assisting with formulation, packaging and compliance from concept to shelf. You will use your foundational knowledge of ingredients, regulations and product development to help bring safe, effective and category-spanning beauty products to life.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where attention to detail, ownership and curiosity are essential. You’ll help us turn brilliant product ideas into shelf-ready launches that our customers love, all while staying true to our sustainability mission.

As NPD Executive, you will need to balance ownership and cross-team coordination to ensure that new products are delivered on time, on budget and aligned with our values and customer needs.

Specifically, You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Coordinating the end-to-end NPD process across formulations, packaging and testing.
  • Assisting in the development of new personal care products across categories (e.g. deodorant, body care).
  • Supporting ingredient research, formulation trials and lab briefing.
  • Assisting on packaging development, including material selection and sustainability considerations.
  • Managing documentation, sample tracking, claims substantiation, regulatory requirements (EU, UK, FDA) and supporting safety testing processes.
  • Coordinating samples, documentation and timelines to help move products from concept to launch.
  • Monitoring industry trends, competitor activity and customer feedback to inform product ideas and improvements.

Who you are

Great comes in lots of different forms, and we’re really open to seeing candidates from a range of backgrounds. Given the nature of the role and what we’ll ask of you, we do believe that the following skills are needed to be able to deliver to a high standard.

Must Haves (you’ll need all of these to be considered for the role)

  • Approx 1+ year experience in a product development or a technical role in cosmetics, personal care or FMCG.
  • Working knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, formulations and INCI listings.
  • Basic understanding of cosmetic regulations (EU, UK and/or FDA).
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills – you’re able to juggle multiple projects and track moving parts across teams.
  • Strong attention to detail – from documentation to ingredients, nothing slips past you.
  • Proactive ownership mindset – you take initiative, follow up and see things through.
  • Strong documentation skills – especially using Google Sheets/Excel and project management tools (Monday, Asana...).
  • Curious and eager to learn – you ask great questions, seek out answers and care about the “why”.
  • A genuine passion for sustainable beauty and personal care.

Nice to Have (bonus points)

  • Experience supporting claims development and lab testing processes.
  • Familiarity with sustainable packaging materials or circular product design.

We’re Pretty Proud Of What We’ve Built So Far, And We Know It’s The People Who’ll Get Us Where We’re Going. Here’s What You’ll Get

  • A chance to say you helped save the planet, and smelt great doing it!
  • A salary of £28,000 - £32,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid working with Tuesdays and Thursdays in our East London office
  • 33 days annual leave including flexible bank holidays + a day off for your birthday – we encourage you to take time off to switch off, rest and recharge.
  • Our Wellhub membership with a range of fitness & wellbeing options - we care about our team’s wellness, from physical to mental health
  • Share options after probation - we grow, you grow
