Senior Mechanical and Electrical Engineer

Location: London
Rate: Circa £450 Per Day
Contract: 6 Months - ongoing

Spencer Clarke Group are recruiting for an Interim Senior Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to join a large public sector estates and facilities function in London. The role focuses on delivering a high-quality mechanical engineering service across a varied property portfolio, supporting planned maintenance, compliance and project delivery.

You will take a lead role on mechanical works and statutory compliance and provide technical direction to a small mechanical engineering team.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading delivery of mechanical engineering works across repairs, maintenance, statutory compliance and capital programmes
• Managing planned, cyclical and day-to-day maintenance programmes (including statutory testing)
• Ensuring compliance across key areas such as Legionella control (L8 ACOP), servicing contracts, and relevant mechanical regulations
• Producing specifications, drawings and contract documentation; managing tendering and evaluations
• Undertaking condition and measured surveys and preparing technical reports
• Supervising works on site, managing variations, valuations and payment certification
• Chairing / attending site meetings, managing stakeholders and ensuring quality and programme delivery
• Maintaining accurate records for asset registers and compliance documentation
• Participating in an out of hours rota

About you:

• Proven mechanical engineering experience within facilities management, estates, housing, or public sector / local authority environments
• Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and mechanical maintenance programmes (Legionella L8, HVAC, gas compliance, servicing regimes, etc.)
• Confident managing contractors and delivering projects from survey through to completion
• Comfortable producing technical documentation, specs and procurement packs
• Able to work on-site and manage competing priorities in a live environment
• Line management experience is highly desirable
