Harmonic Group Ltd

Accounts Assistant | Global Design Consultancy | London

The Client

Harmonic are working with one of the world's most established architecture and design consultancies on their search for an Accounts Assistant to join the London finance team. The business is a genuine heavyweight in its field - working across a wide range of commercial, cultural, and civic projects at scale, with a large international team and a strong reputation built over several decades.

The London office is home to a collaborative, high-performing finance function that sits at the centre of a creative, multi-disciplinary business. It's a tight-knit team with a good culture, and one where people tend to stay - the Accounting Manager has been with the business a long time and knows it inside out, which makes for a solid environment to develop in.

The Role

This is an AR-focused role with real breadth - you'll be covering cash receipts, collections, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, weekly reporting, and some AP support, as well as working closely with the project accounting team on reimbursable back-up. It's hands-on and varied, and you'll be expected to take ownership of your areas from early on rather than just working to instruction.

There's also a client-facing dimension worth flagging: internal stakeholders across the design and studio teams are your customers, so how you communicate matters as much as how accurately you process. The business is looking for someone organised and technically solid, but also someone who brings a professional, proactive manner to the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process cash receipts accurately and keep AR records clean and reconciled
  • Produce AR reports and actively support the collections process
  • Process weekly employee expense claims
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and assist with fixed asset monitoring and reconciliation
  • Support project accountants with reimbursable back-up documentation
  • Assist the AP team with monthly tasks, journal entries, and general data entry
  • Produce and communicate weekly reports to relevant stakeholders
  • Identify and drive improvements to processes and internal controls

What our client needs to see (essential):

  • 2-5 years of general accounting experience, with a focus on AR
  • Solid Excel skills and comfort across the MS Office suite
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Clear communicator - able to manage priorities and deal with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proactive and ownership-focused approach to the role

What we'd like to see (desirable):

  • Multi-currency exposure
  • Background in professional services, architecture, engineering, or a project-led environment
  • Familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint or a comparable ERP

Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 (dependent on experience) + bi-annual bonus

Location: London (predominantly on-site, with some flexibility on hours)

Start Date: ASAP
