Location: Dulwich, South East London
Job Type: Full-time | Term Time Only
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive secondary school in Dulwich. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide dedicated support to a student with Special Educational Needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Working closely with the class teachers, SENCO, and wider support team, you will play a key role in creating a positive learning environment where the student feels supported both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a student with SEN throughout the school day.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the student's individual needs.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interactions.
  • Support the student's emotional wellbeing and behaviour using positive strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external professionals.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback on the student's development.
  • Assist with classroom activities and contribute to an inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Has previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, ideally within a secondary school setting.
  • Is patient, empathetic, and committed to helping every student succeed.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Is adaptable, reliable, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths. Relevant qualifications in education or SEND are advantageous but not essential.
What We Offer
  • A welcoming and supportive secondary school environment.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to a young person's education and wellbeing.
  • Competitive rates of pay.
  • Dedicated support throughout your placement.

An enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references will be required in line with safeguarding and safer recruitment procedures.

If you are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and are looking for a rewarding role in education, we would love to hear from you.
