An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Market Data Manager to join a leading proprietary trading firm at the forefront of global financial markets.

This is a high-impact role for someone who combines strong market data expertise with a passion for technology, automation and AI. Working closely with the Head of Market Data, you'll play a key role in delivering the firm's market data strategy, driving operational excellence and transforming manual processes through intelligent automation.

Partnering with Trading, Technology, Legal, Compliance and Finance, you'll oversee the day-to-day operation of the market data function, supporting vendor management, licensing, governance, reporting and inventory management while leveraging AI and Python to improve efficiency and scalability.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Market Data, you will be responsible for the operational delivery of the firm's market data strategy across multiple regions and business lines.

This is a genuinely hands-on position where you'll use AI, automation and lightweight Python development to streamline workflows, improve reporting, enhance vendor analytics and strengthen governance across the firm's market data estate.

You'll work closely with engineering teams while remaining focused on the commercial and operational aspects of market data, supporting vendor negotiations, licensing, inventory management and the onboarding of new data sets. As the function continues to evolve, you'll play a key role in implementing scalable processes and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver the operational execution of the firm's market data strategy across global business areas.
• Lead AI and automation initiatives to improve reporting, entitlement management, vendor analytics and operational efficiency.
• Design and develop lightweight Python solutions to automate workflows, reporting and reconciliation processes.
• Manage day-to-day market data operations, including licensing, reporting, exchange audits and entitlement management.
• Support commercial negotiations, vendor renewals and RFP processes with major exchanges and market data providers.
• Produce vendor usage analysis, ROI reporting and cost optimisation recommendations.
• Build and maintain the firm's central market data inventory and data catalogue.
• Coordinate the onboarding of new market data services and ensure appropriate governance and documentation is maintained.
• Partner with Technology, Procurement, Legal, Compliance and Finance to deliver efficient and scalable market data operations.
• Line manage and mentor a Market Data Licensing Administrator, supporting their ongoing development.
• Ensure compliance with market data licensing obligations, contractual commitments and internal governance standards.
• Monitor emerging technologies and identify opportunities to leverage AI to improve operational performance.

About You

You'll have between four and eight years' experience within Market Data, Market Data Operations, Vendor Management or Licensing gained within a proprietary trading firm, hedge fund, investment bank, exchange, market data vendor, fintech or similar financial markets environment.

You'll possess a strong understanding of market data licensing, exchange policies and vendor management, together with experience supporting commercial negotiations and managing complex market data environments.

You'll be comfortable working with modern AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs), using automation to replace manual processes and improve operational efficiency. You'll also have practical Python skills, enabling you to build lightweight internal tools, automate reporting and develop workflow solutions.

Experience with market data inventory platforms such as TRG Screen, Alveo or similar technologies would be highly advantageous, as would exposure to alternative data, quantitative trading environments or multi-asset trading businesses.
