Ambition Europe Limited

Are you a qualified auditor with a solid pensions background, ready to take on a Manager-level role in a specialist and growing team?

Our client is a well-established national accountancy and advisory firm with a dedicated pensions audit practice. They work with a varied portfolio of high-profile pension fund clients, delivering audit and assurance services that genuinely add value to trustee governance and scheme management.
This is an opportunity to join a talented, collaborative team at a critical point in your career, where you'll take real ownership of a client portfolio, develop your leadership skills, and work alongside experienced partners who are invested in your progression. Whether you're looking for an office-based role or a hybrid arrangement, the firm offers genuine flexibility to suit the right candidate.
What you'll be doing
  • Manage a portfolio of pension fund clients, reporting directly to the engagement partner and serving as the principal point of contact throughout the year
  • Lead statutory audits across all stages of the process, from planning through to completion, ensuring delivery within agreed budgets and to the required quality standards
  • Draft audit planning and findings reports, providing insightful commentary and identifying recommendations to improve client governance
  • Take initiative and ownership in managing both the audit process and your team, maintaining a clear focus on quality, profitability, and timely delivery
  • Review the work of your audit team, actively supervising and supporting their development and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Lead and manage wider pensions assurance and risk management projects, preparing reports and liaising directly with clients
  • Carry out all work in accordance with the firm's professional standards and to the satisfaction of clients and the engagement partner
  • Support partners in ensuring that audit objectives and quality standards are consistently met across your portfolio
What we're looking for
  • Professionally qualified ACA, CA, or ACCA (or equivalent)
  • Technically strong, with a solid audit grounding and hands-on experience of pension scheme audits
  • A good working knowledge of the pensions sector, pensions SORP, and relevant regulations
  • Ability to manage a varied client portfolio with competing priorities and deadlines, while maintaining high standards throughout
  • Proven people management skills, with the ability to supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach, combined with the confidence to take ownership and work with a degree of autonomy
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with senior client stakeholders including trustees
Nice to have
  • Experience leading pensions assurance or risk management projects beyond the core audit
  • Prior exposure to trustee governance advisory work
Why join
Our client offers a genuinely rewarding environment for ambitious professionals who want to build a specialist career and develop as a future leader.
  • A varied portfolio of high-profile pension fund clients from day one
  • Supportive, experienced partners who are actively invested in your growth
  • A clear, structured career pathway with real scope for progression
  • A collaborative and inclusive culture that values innovation and rewards those committed to making a difference
  • Competitive salary and a flexible benefits package (full details available upon application)
  • Agile working approach with dedicated wellbeing support
  • Flexible working arrangements, including office-based or hybrid options
  • Access to expert knowledge and continuous learning opportunities
  • A firm committed to diversity, equal opportunity, and merit-based progression
