Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 / year
Contract type: Full time

Consortia

You want your early product design career to come with real autonomy, not just tweaking UI on the margins. As a Product Designer, you’ll shape the experience of a flagship geospatial planning tool already used across the UK power market, with genuine ownership from day one. You will join an award-winning energy-tech scale-up whose platform helps cities and utilities plan low-carbon infrastructure.

Sitting in the product team and reporting to the Chief of Product, you’ll work at the intersection of UX, UI, data and engineering. This Product Designer role is ideal if you enjoy figuring out messy problems, collaborating across disciplines, and seeing your work ship quickly into the hands of real users across the UK energy sector.

What You'll Do

Own end-to-end design for core product features, from understanding user needs through to high-fidelity Figma designs ready for developers.

Run user research and usability testing with a range of stakeholders, turning feedback into clear improvements across complex, data-heavy workflows.

Create wireframes and clickable prototypes in Figma that bring concepts to life for product managers, engineers and clients.

Take charge of the Figma design library and broader design system, organising what exists and building a more structured, easy-to-navigate set of components.

Monitor competitor UX and UI patterns so your design decisions are grounded in best practice and the wider product landscape.

Work closely with product owners and developers to refine requirements, support backlog grooming and ensure what ships matches the intended user experience.

What You'll Bring

Strong proficiency in Figma, with examples of turning ideas into clear flows, prototypes and polished interfaces.

A bachelor’s degree, ideally in a technical, design or product-related field, and clear evidence of critical thinking and structured problem solving.

Have a portfolio, academic, internship, personal or professional, that walks through your design process; B2B or complex tool examples are a real bonus.

You communicate clearly and show cognitive empathy when switching between conversations with developers, data specialists, commercial teams and end users.

Proactive and organised, comfortable working in a small startup where not every task is predefined and you enjoy taking responsibility.

Exposure to user research or usability testing, agile ways of working (e.g. Jira), or an interest in energy, infrastructure or geospatial products.

You must include a portfolio, applications without one cannot progress to interview.

What's On Offer

£35,000–£45,000 base salary, with potential stretch towards £55,000 for outstanding candidates.

Predominantly remote working within the UK, with a collaborative in-person week in central London around once a month.

The chance to own meaningful design decisions early in your career on software used widely across the UK power and energy planning landscape.

Close collaboration with supportive product, engineering, data and commercial teammates in a small, high-trust environment.

A clear runway for rapid progression as you take on more responsibility and expand your skills.

Benefits package, details on application.

If you're a Product Designer who wants early autonomy, real responsibility, and the chance to shape tools underpinning the UK’s energy transition, this is the role to explore next.
