HR Business Partner - Strategic Delivery

About the role

In your role as HR Business Partner - Strategic Delivery, you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to drive the delivery of the People Strategy across USS. It leads key initiatives from design through to embedding, working closely with HR Business Partners and leaders to ensure they are aligned to business priorities and delivered in a way that is practical, consistent, and sustainable.

The role operates flexibly across the HR function, bringing additional capacity and expertise where needed, including stepping into business partnering activity to support the business directly. It also plays a key role in bringing external insight and a focus on continuous improvement, ensuring that people practices evolve and deliver meaningful outcomes for colleagues and the organisation.

What you will be doing

As a trusted part of the HR team you will be responsible for:

People Strategy Delivery

  1. Act as delivery lead, or SME depending on the initiative, bringing expertise and insight to shape approach and outcomes
  2. Maintain focus on progress, pace, and impact, ensuring initiatives stay on track and deliver meaningful results
  3. Work closely with HR Business Partners to understand business priorities, challenges and context, ensuring initiatives are relevant, aligned and practical to implement

EDI, Culture and Engagement

  1. Lead and programme manage the EDI governance framework, strategy and action plan
  2. Support reporting on inclusion and diversity metrics, including benchmarking against external market data, and provide updates to Boards and committees
  3. Build and maintain external networks with peer organisations and industry groups to bring insight and inform approach
  4. Own the end-to-end engagement survey process
  5. Work closely with HR Business Partners to embed local engagement insights and support effective action planning.

HRBP Support

  1. Coach and support managers and leaders through organisational change, reward, resource planning, employee relations and people strategy execution
  2. Act as a trusted advisor, combining strategic thinking with delivery focus.

People Strategy Oversight

  1. Partner with the HR Leadership Team (HRLT) to monitor delivery of the People Strategy, ensuring clear visibility of progress across key priorities
  2. Maintain a clear view of delivery against plan, including key milestones, risks, and dependencies

Continuous Improvement & External Insight

  1. Proactively identify and lead opportunities to improve people processes, frameworks and colleague experience
  2. Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the People Strategy, ensuring it reflects both internal insight and external best practice.

• Strong HRBP experience with the ability to operate strategically and operationally

• Experience within a regulated financial services environment

• Proven experience in project/programme delivery within HR

• Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability

• Analytical mindset, using data to inform decisions and prioritisation

• The ability to operate in a flexible, non-aligned, enterprise-wide role
