Quality Performance Test Engineer - #2113293

Hays are now looking for a Quality Engineer / Performance Tester for one of our local clients:

• £310 p/d Inside IR35
• 3 days p/w in the office, 2 WFH
• Location is one of either London, Manchester or Leicester

We're looking for strong experience in performance and non-functional testing to support the delivery of large-scale digital services. The role will focus on ensuring applications are scalable, reliable and performant through a combination of performance testing, API testing and quality engineering practices.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and execute performance, load, stress and endurance testing activities.
• Build and maintain JMeter test scripts and performance test frameworks.
• Perform API testing and validate system behaviour under varying loads.
• Analyse performance metrics, identify bottlenecks and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Work closely with developers, architects and delivery teams to resolve performance issues.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and integrate automated testing into delivery processes.
• Monitor application performance using tools such as Grafana, Kibana or similar observability platforms.
• Contribute to overall quality engineering activities including test planning, defect management and release assurance.

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in performance and non-functional testing.
• Strong hands-on experience with JMeter.
• Experience with load, stress, volume and endurance/soak testing.
• Knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman and REST-based services.
• Experience working with modern cloud and microservices-based environments.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and test automation practices.
• Ability to analyse performance results and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
• Previous public sector or government project experience would be advantageous.
• Experience with tools such as Gatling, k6, Grafana, Kibana or similar performance and monitoring technologies would be beneficial.
