Contract type: Full time
Work schedule: Full day
6-month contract | Initial site visits across London & Suffolk, then hybrid working
About the role
We're looking for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join a division of a leading UK infrastructure and rail services group on a six-month interim basis. You'll step straight into an operational finance function, working closely with operational and commercial leaders across live project sites during the first couple of weeks, before settling into a hybrid working pattern.
What you'll be doing
* Acting as the senior finance lead for a regional division, providing true business partnership to operational, project and commercial teams
* Spending the first two weeks on site in London and Suffolk - getting under the skin of the contracts, meeting project teams and understanding the cost and revenue drivers first-hand
* Owning the month-end cycle for your patch: forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis and the story behind the numbers
* Challenging and supporting Project and Commercial Managers on contract performance, WIP, margin, cost-to-complete and risk
* Producing clear, decision-useful reporting for divisional leadership and supporting the wider group reporting cycle
* Driving improved financial discipline, cash focus and commercial awareness out in the business
What we're looking for
* A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong post-qualification business partnering experience
* Demonstrable track record in a project- or contract-based environment - rail, construction, infrastructure, engineering or related sectors
* Confident engaging with operational teams on site and translating site reality into financial insight
* Strong forecasting, modelling and month-end credentials, with the credibility to challenge senior stakeholders constructively
* Comfortable working independently in an interim capacity and adding value from week one
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites in London and Suffolk during the initial period
What's on offer
* Hybrid working once the initial site engagement is complete
* Opportunity to embed within a high-profile infrastructure portfolio
