Venn Group is delighted to be recruiting for an Interim Financial Accountant on behalf of a well-established international charity. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a busy finance team, supporting financial reporting, controls, reconciliations and compliance. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, maintaining robust accounting processes and supporting the organisation through a period of change and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the accurate recognition, posting and reconciliation of supporter income within SUN, ensuring all income is recorded completely and correctly
  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including UK bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring reporting deadlines are met and financial data remains accurate
  • Review payroll submissions and approve BACS payment runs, ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements
  • Support audit preparation, VAT reporting, financial controls and compliance activities, working closely with the Financial Controller
  • Partner with international finance colleagues to support month-end reporting, income coding and adherence to financial procedures
  • Assist with systems and process improvements, helping to strengthen financial reporting and control frameworks across the organisation

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong financial accounting experience, including month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
  • Experience preparing financial information for audit and supporting compliance activities
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
  • Experience using SUN Systems is highly desirable
  • Charity or not-for-profit sector experience is desirable

Duration: 3-6 months interim contract, subject to further extension

Pay rate: £350 per day (paid via an Umbrella company)

Working hours: 35 hours per week

Working pattern: Hybrid (2 days per week in London office)
