BI Consultant

£500-600/day outside IR35

Remote working with flexibility

4-month initial contract with likely extensions

This is a hands-on analytics role with a single, clear mandate: to lift the quality of reporting from functional to genuinely excellent. With an initial rationalisation of the existing BI estate, this role will be pivotal in an enterprise BI/data transformation.

The role requires a consultant mindset with strong technical expertise, capable of reviewing the end-to-end BI landscape, from data extracts and transformation processes through to semantic models and visualisation layers. You will identify opportunities to simplify, modernise, and improve the BI platform, while advising stakeholders on best practices and future-state solutions.

Tech stack: Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI, DBT

BI Consultant, key responsibilities:

  • Rationalise the existing Tableau estate - establish what exists, what is actually used, and what can be retired - and produce a clear, prioritised migration and decommissioning plan
  • Rebuild and consolidate key MI and dashboards in Power BI to a visibly higher standard, working over the governed Snowflake layer rather than local extracts
  • Design reporting as communication: clear visual hierarchy, the right chart for each message, and ruthless removal of noise, so the answer is obvious in five seconds
  • Produce board- and executive-level MI that non-technical stakeholders can read and act on without a translator, and that drives decisions rather than follow-up meetings
  • Work directly against dbt-modelled data in Snowflake using strong SQL, ensuring reporting is accurate, documented, and maintainable in a regulated environment
  • Build governed, reusable reporting assets - certified datasets and a single source of truth - rather than one-off local extracts

BI Consultant, Snowflake, BI, Tableau, DBT
