Clinical Trials Assistant

Private Eye Clinic | Harley Street, London

Salary: Up to £30,000 | Full-time, 40 hours per week

This is a fully on-site role. There is no hybrid or remote working.

Join a specialist private eye clinic with an active clinical trials and research programme, working alongside leading ophthalmic clinicians and an experienced clinical research team.

This is a varied, hands-on developmental role offering training and practical experience across clinical research, participant coordination, ophthalmic imaging, sample processing and research data management.

The Role

As a Clinical Trials Assistant, you will support the delivery of industry-sponsored and clinic-initiated ophthalmic studies. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting clinical trial administration and study documentation
  • Coordinating participant appointments and assisting during study visits
  • Supporting recruitment and screening activities
  • Entering and maintaining accurate clinical research data
  • Assisting with ophthalmic imaging, including OCT and retinal imaging
  • Supporting sample preparation, processing and tracking
  • Developing skills in phlebotomy and cannulation where appropriate
  • Supporting sponsor, monitor and investigator visits
  • Assisting with research presentations, publications and scientific projects
  • Working in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and study protocols

About You

Previous clinical trials experience is not essential. We are looking for someone who is organised, accurate, professional and eager to develop a career in clinical research.

You should have:

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence using computers and electronic systems
  • The ability to follow detailed procedures and meet deadlines
  • A calm, professional and compassionate approach to participants
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
  • A genuine interest in ophthalmology, clinical research and medical innovation

Healthcare, research, ophthalmology, optometry or patient-facing experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Working Hours

40 hours per week, with shifts typically operating between 08:00 and 19:00, including:

  • 08:00–17:00
  • 09:00–18:00
  • 10:00–19:00

A one-hour lunch break is normally included. Due to the time-sensitive nature of clinical trials, occasional earlier starts, later finishes or weekend work may be required.

What We Offer

This role provides structured training and genuine career development, with the opportunity to build experience across clinical trials, advanced ophthalmic imaging, research data, laboratory procedures and participant coordination.

You will work in a professional, technology-rich environment within London's Harley Street medical district, alongside experienced consultants and clinical research professionals.

Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum

Location: Harley Street, London

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
