A well-established London-based charitable organisation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Management Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant, or someone qualified by experience, looking to develop their management accounting skills within a varied and purpose-led organisation.
About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Management Accountant will play an important role in supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial information across the organisation and its charitable activities. The role will have a broad remit across day-to-day and management accounting, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations, expenses, month-end processes and the accurate accounting for a wide range of charitable and educational payments.

About the Role

The role will have a broad remit across day-to-day and management accounting, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations, expenses, month-end processes and the accurate accounting for a wide range of charitable and educational payments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Accurately account for and process student grants, school grants, charitable grants.
- Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and deferred income.
- Process and reconcile employee expenses, ensuring expenditure is appropriately authorised, coded and recorded.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring financial information is accurate and up to date.
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and other financial reporting requirements.
- Contribute to improving financial controls, processes and reporting across the finance function.
About You:
Essential
- At least 2 years previous experience working within a finance or management accounting environment.
- Experience supporting the production of management accounts, including journals, reconciliations and month-end processes.
- Previous experience across Accounts Payable.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyse and present financial data.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- A proactive and collaborative approach with strong problem-solving skills.
