Trainee Administrator – Corporate Insolvency - #2132733
Financial Staffing Solutions
An expanding Corporate Solutions team is looking to appoint a Trainee Administrator to support its continued growth, driven by an increase in Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and analytical individual looking to develop a career within corporate insolvency and financial investigations. The role provides hands-on exposure to company investigations, financial analysis and the preparation of statutory reports, working alongside experienced professionals in a specialist environment.
The Corporate Solutions team undertakes detailed reviews of a company’s affairs prior to liquidation. This includes analysing books and records, identifying potentially antecedent transactions, investigating unusual activity and assisting with the preparation of statutory reports for submission to the Insolvency Service.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting investigations into the affairs of companies entering liquidation.
The position will provide exposure to a broad range of financial and investigative work, including reviewing accounting records, tracing transactions, identifying relationships between connected parties and communicating with company directors and other relevant parties.
It would suit someone with a good grounding in accounting and double-entry bookkeeping who enjoys analysing information, solving problems and getting to the bottom of complex issues.
Key Responsibilities
The Trainee Administrator will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and analysing company books, accounting records and financial information.
- Using accounting knowledge and an understanding of double-entry bookkeeping to analyse transactions and identify anomalies.
- Preparing schedules identifying associated, connected and related parties.
- Investigating unusual, complex or potentially irregular transactions.
- Conducting follow-up correspondence with directors and other relevant parties to obtain information and clarification.
- Assisting with the preparation of instruction packs and supporting documentation for solicitors.
- Assisting with liaison and correspondence with the Insolvency Service.
- Supporting the preparation of statutory reports and investigative documentation.
- Undertaking research and analysis to support ongoing cases.
- Managing individual tasks and caseloads to ensure work is completed accurately and within required deadlines.
- Working closely with colleagues across the wider Corporate Solutions team.
The Ideal Candidate
The role is likely to appeal to an individual who has a genuine interest in accounting, insolvency, investigations or professional services and is looking for an opportunity to develop their career.
Candidates should have:
- A sound understanding of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Strong analytical and numerical ability.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to interpret financial information and identify inconsistencies or unusual transactions.
- Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
- Good problem-solving and investigative skills.
- The ability to work methodically and logically.
- Strong organisational and workflow management skills.
- The ability to prioritise competing demands and manage multiple tasks.
- A proactive, positive and can-do attitude.
- The confidence and professionalism to communicate with directors, solicitors and other external parties.
- The ability to work independently and use initiative, while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
- The resilience to work effectively in a fast-paced and occasionally pressurised environment.
Previous experience within insolvency, accountancy, audit, investigations or professional services would be advantageous, but the opportunity may also suit a strong accounting candidate looking to move into a more investigative and specialist career.
