Harnham - Data & Analytics Recruitment

Data Engineer - Data Platform Modernisation

Harnham is partnering with a major European consumer organisation on a large-scale modernisation of its data platform.

Operating across multiple markets with millions of consumers, the organisation has grown significantly over time, resulting in a complex data estate spanning different technologies, platforms and legacy environments.

They are now investing in consolidating this into a standardised, modern Snowflake-based data platform and are looking for experienced Data Engineers to help accelerate the migration.

THE ROLE

You'll join a dedicated migration project, working alongside an established internal Data function to move legacy workloads onto the organisation's modern data stack.

This isn't simply building new Snowflake pipelines. You'll need to understand existing workloads across technologies such as Redshift, EC2, R and Python, determine how they work, and redesign them within the new architecture.

You'll work across:

  • Migrating legacy pipelines and workloads into Snowflake

  • Building and refactoring pipelines using Python

  • Developing orchestration through Airflow / MWAA

  • Infrastructure and deployment using Terraform and Docker

  • Supporting transformation and modelling using dbt

  • Working across both legacy and modern AWS data environments

  • Investigating existing systems and proactively solving migration challenges

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We're looking for a broad, hands-on Data Engineer who is comfortable working across data engineering, software engineering and infrastructure.

Core experience:

  • Python

  • Airflow / MWAA

  • Snowflake

  • Terraform

  • AWS

Desirable experience:

  • dbt

  • Docker

  • Redshift

  • R

  • Data platform migrations or modernisation programmes

The ideal candidate will have worked within complex or fast-moving environments and be comfortable taking ownership, investigating unfamiliar systems and working across multiple technologies.

THE COMPANY

You'll be joining a large, established European consumer organisation undergoing significant investment in its data capabilities.

With thousands of employees, operations across multiple European markets and a significant consumer footprint, the scale of the organisation creates a genuinely complex engineering environment.

This is an opportunity to work on a major modernisation programme, helping consolidate years of legacy technology into a common, scalable data platform.
