Senior Developer - Defence Programme (DV Cleared)

Location: London, 3 days per week on site
Duration: ASAP start. Contract initially till March 2027 with extensions to follow
Rate: £650 - 750 per day, Inside IR35
Clearance: Active DV mandatory

The role

A senior developer is needed to provide technical leadership on the delivery of an AI-enabled tasking and workflow platform for a Defence programme. The application is moving out of Discovery into early Alpha, so you'll be shaping the build rather than maintaining someone else's.

You'll work in a mixed team of engineers from several suppliers, alongside a dedicated AI engineering capability. The platform combines Python/FastAPI services, React and TypeScript interfaces, Camunda workflow orchestration, modular services, data persistence, and integration with existing Defence tasking processes.

Despite the AI-enabled focus of the platform, this is primarily a software engineering role.

What you'll need

Significant experience delivering software in MOD, Defence Intelligence, National Security or comparable secure environments
Proven experience leading agile development teams
Strong engineering background across Python, FastAPI, REST APIs, React and TypeScript
Experience designing and delivering microservice architectures
