Job description

Fantastic opportunity for a Senior Java Developer to join the central Equities Execution team at one of the world's most prestigious hedge funds.

Working across a platform of 350+ Portfolio Manager teams, this team is responsible for optimising how equity orders are executed across the firm - determining when flow can be internalised, when it should be taken to market, and how orders should be routed to achieve best execution.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role working directly with Execution, Traders and Quants. You'll build and enhance execution algorithms and trader tooling, as well as contribute to a major migration of the firm's Java-based Order Management System.

There is no traditional product-management layer between technology and the business, so you'll have significant ownership and direct interaction with stakeholders. The boundaries between engineering and execution quantitative research are deliberately blurred, with particularly close collaboration with the firm's Central Liquidity team.

Skills and Experience Required

• Minimum 5+ years' professional Java development experience
• Strong Equities experience is essential
• Experience building electronic trading / execution systems, ideally including execution algorithms, order routing or best execution
• Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle and electronic markets
• Excellent communication skills and comfortable working directly with Traders, Quants and other business stakeholders
• Strong hands-on engineering skills and experience delivering production trading systems

Desirable

• Futures experience, as the platform is expanding beyond Equities
• Experience with internalisation / central risk or smart order routing
• Experience building trader-facing tools and custom execution algorithms
• Knowledge of execution controls and regulatory requirements, including wash-trade prevention
