The Opportunity

A well-established and growing boutique accountancy practice is seeking a Qualified Accountant to join its friendly and collaborative team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing client relationships, delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services, and supporting the continued growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for a varied client portfolio.
• Managing the preparation and submission of corporation tax, VAT, and personal tax returns, including those for directors, high-net-worth individuals, sole traders, and owner-managed businesses.
• Providing clients with personal tax planning advice, helping individuals maximise tax efficiencies and ensuring compliance with current legislation.
• Advising clients on a broad range of personal tax matters, including income tax, capital gains tax, dividend planning, and self-assessment requirements.
• Providing clients with accounting, business, and tax advice.
• Supporting clients with management accounts, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor.
• Reviewing work completed by junior team members and providing mentorship where required.
• Assisting with business development opportunities and identifying value-added services for clients.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Supporting partners with ad hoc projects and client assignments.

Requirements

Essential

• ACA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting qualification.
• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, corporation tax, VAT, and personal taxation.
• Proven experience preparing and reviewing personal tax returns and advising clients on personal tax matters.
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar.

Desirable

• Experience working with owner-managed businesses, directors, and SMEs.
• Exposure to personal tax planning and advisory services.
• Experience advising high-net-worth individuals and business owners on tax-efficient planning strategies.
• Previous experience reviewing junior staff work.
