Payroll Officer - #2139868

Our local authority client based in South London are urgently seeking an experienced Payroll Officer.

*£23.51 an hour PAYE

*Hybrid working - 2 to 3 day on site a week

Job Description

• To assist in all aspects of the day-to-day delivery of a comprehensive and efficient payroll service, ensuring that all staff are paid accurately and on time, in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations and Council policies.
• To act as a first-line point of contact for the full range of clients, including employees, Council departments, schools and external organisations.
• To provide specialist advice on matters relating to payroll administration, regulations and associated policies.
• To actively respond to and resolve payroll service desk enquiries within agreed performance targets.

Responsibilities

Payroll Service Delivery

• Assist line management in ensuring the timely, efficient and effective delivery of the payroll service, ensuring that performance targets are met.
• Support the ongoing development of the payroll service to achieve measurable efficiencies and enhance service delivery, client expectations and customer experience.
• Administer the Council’s payroll and provide all associated services in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures, including:
• Statutory and contractual maternity pay
• Statutory and contractual sick pay, including liaison with managers and HR officers to ensure compliance with statutory requirements
• National Insurance benefits
• Payment in Lieu of Notice (PILON)
• Pay awards
• Incremental payments
• Manual payments
