BIR is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to join our team in London on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional looking for their next career move, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position following a successful temporary assignment.

The Role

As Senior Engineer / Assistant Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of projects from planning through to completion, working closely with the Project Manager, site teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the Project Manager in the successful delivery of projects.
• Managing and coordinating engineering activities on site.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, programmes, and technical information.
• Setting out and checking works to ensure they meet design and specification requirements.
• Monitoring progress, quality, and site performance.
• Coordinating subcontractors and site teams.
• Assisting with project planning, reporting, and programme management.
• Identifying and resolving technical and construction issues.
• Maintaining accurate site records and documentation.
• Supporting commercial and project management activities where required.
• Ensuring health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements are maintained.

The Candidate

We are looking for someone with:

• Proven experience as a Senior Engineer, Site Engineer, Project Engineer, or Assistant Project Manager.
• Strong technical and engineering knowledge.
• Experience within the construction/civil engineering sector.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to manage priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Good understanding of construction processes, drawings, specifications, and project programmes.
• Relevant engineering/construction qualifications are desirable.

What We Offer

Salary: £50,000–£60,000 + package
Location: London
Employment: Temporary to Permanent
